              Artist’s Statement

The role of the artist has often been to shed light on the unseen. The artist acts to make known the unknown, the

          Mysterious.

The world, indeed the universe is shrouded in mysteries. Why is there anything at all, why is there life and consciousness?

In my paintings I have striven to bring to the viewer a sense of the unknown, to question and live in a state of

         Wonder.

Tango Magdalena proudly announces a new collection of featured art in the studio. This time, our friends will enjoy the work of two wonderful children, David Levin and his sister Sarah.

When Rita Levin (their mother) first brought a sample of their work to us, we instantly felt their talent transpiring through their paintings. These detailed and whimsical paintings will surely bring a breath of fresh air to our space.

Please look for their paintings at Tango Magdalena within the coming week. It is our hope that your appreciation for these delightful works of art will prompt you to acquire some pieces for your personal collections.

---------------------------------

David Levin, a 16-year old sophomore at Springstone High School in Lafayette, started life in Queens, New York, in 1992. One year later, his family moved to California. Currently, David lives with his mom, sister Sarah and two cats, Kisa and Claude in Danville. In his free time, David enjoys pole vaulting and a variety of outdoor activities, such as hiking, canoeing, biking, and traveling. Thus, for the past four years, David’s surroundings and imagination have inspired numerous sketches and paintings.
He takes art lessons from talented artist Galina Shif. Art is a big joy in David’s life.

Sarah Levin, born in Danville, California, in 1996, currently lives with her mom, brother David, and two cats, Kisa and Claude. This Charlotte Wood Middle School 6th grader enjoys painting, sketching, acting and spending time with friends and family.
At birth, doctors diagnosed Sarah with Ocular Albinism – a condition that prevents her from seeing clearly.  Thus, her art gives Sarah’s world life, color and clarity. Nine years ago Sarah took up painting and is fortunate today to study with talented artist Galina Shif. Drawing is like thinking; it helps you find answers and meaning. Sarah adds, “Drawing for me is like catching my dreams.”
