WORKSHOP IN SEPTEMBER 2009 with

SANTIAGO & AMY

FROM BUENOS AIRES

at

TANGO MAGDALENA DANCE STUDIO

Santiago & Amy come from Buenos Aires overflowing with creativity, enthusiasm and love of Argentine Tango. They create a refreshing, dynamic and fun atmosphere for their classes, without overlooking the importance of transmitting their deep knowledge of Tango. After their class you go away feeling full of concepts and clarity, having obtained elements necessary for the dance floor and not just fancy steps that you''ll soon forget.

Their dance comes from the most traditional tango styles of Buenos Aires, like Villa Urquiza and Almagro. They perform with the emotions, feelings and sensuality of tango. "A tango in every step..." they say.

They've given classes in the most prestigious Milongas of Buenos Aires such as Salon Canning, Club Sin Rumbo, La Viruta and Confiteria La Ideal. They have danced several times with famous Tango orchestras like Color Tango, Escuela Orquesta de Buenos Aires, among others."

Planning for the Workshops

>>>We will perform at Tango Magdalena Milongas on Fridays SEPTEMBER 18 and 25, 2009

>>>Saturday SEPTEMBER 26, 2009

VILLA URQUIZA STYLE:
We will introduce the Villa Urquiza style of Tango. This old school neighborhood of Buenos Aires exemplifies a quality of dance that is recognized for its elegance and virtuosity. It is the dance of the pause. To dance Villa Urquiza is not to show off fancy figures. It is about finding an entrancing connection with your partner and dancing with musicality and grace.

We will be working to find comfort, elegance, clarity in the lead, sensitivity in the follow and confidence.

From 2 PM to 4 PM:

- Giros (Not one more class of turning around a chair. You'll learn the elements you need to improve balance, control of direction and dynamics for a more graceful movement)

- Sacadas and fake sacadas (understanding the definition of Sacadas and applying it to all its possible combinations.)

From 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM:

- Lapices, Agujas & Enrosques (embellishment for both leaders and followers on turns and pauses)

>>>Sunday SEPTEMBER 27, 2009

DANCING THE MASTERS:
Exploring the characteristics of different musicians that can bring out a new personality in our dance. All the while remaining true to our technique in posture, the walk and the embrace.

From 2 PM to 4 PM:

- Dancing D'Arienzo: Learn those elements and popular steps for the dance floor to bring into your dance when we move to D'Arienzo, "tangos picaditos", or other rhythmic tangos from the likes of Donato, Biagi, etc.

- Dancing Di Sarli: Learn to linger in the pause and savor the sweet melodies of Di Sarli, or other melodic tangos from the likes of Miguel Calo, Fresedo, etc.

From 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM:

- Dancing Milonga: Overcome the feeling of desperation when a milonga song comes on! Look at your partner with confidence as you get swept up in the infectious rhythm of Milonga.
