DAWN FARBER

The time is right, it is appropriate to beat the drum loud and shout and clap the hands in a joyous ceremonial context as we celebrate the progress shown by Dawn, in her Tango journey!

We are very excited to have Dawn as STUDENT OF THE MONTH, to mark her Transformative endeavor. When Dawn came to the class the first time at the Lake Merritt Center, she said she wanted to check out Tango, to see if it is something she would like to pursue. Dawn has been a dedicated, consistent and focused learner of Tango. Her Art is unfolding before our eyes, more and more. In fact, she is now going out to Tango!

One thing that marks the depth the learner is touching in Tango, is the fond to the Tango music. Not everyone is drawned to the Tango songs, at the beginning. For many students, the Tango music grows in them progressively. For Dawn, she immediately took upon herself to acquire some Tango CDs and quickly began to prefer certain songs. This is a very good indicative clue!

Here are her own words:

"

My Tango Path

In 1999 I visited Buenos Aires for a conference, and on my arrival, very jetlagged (and therefore very permeable, impressionable), I stumbled on to some street tango. I was mesmerized, and this was the start of a passionate love affair with tango: the dance, the music, the culture.

I took a few classes when I returned, but for various reasons, did not dance again until October 2018, when my love affair with all things tango was rekindled.

Now, thanks to Jean-Pierre’s masterful teaching, I am obsessed with all things tango. I use my Spanish language lessons partly to translate the songs into English, and this deepens my feel for the emotionality of the music. I wake, sleep and dream tango, and the music plays in my head, my home, my car nonstop.

Bailemos! "
