ELIZABETH LAKIN

We are very excited to have Elizabeth be STUDENT OF THE MONTH for AUGUST 2019!

Tango is Art! Tango is Spiritual Art! Tango is a Transformative Art! When the learner steps into his/her journey, that moment is intuitively recorded in the aura of the class. As the students starts putting in practice the information received, the Transformation unfolds. The reference of their starting point serves as the revealer of how much progress has been achieved. This is so true with Elizabeth, who has been so diligent, persistent and consistent with her learning. It shows! Let's hear from herself, about her journey at this point in time:

"

What an honor!

Tango for me has been a deep therapeutic experience. I have mainly ventured into tango for its capacity to heal the brain. I had no idea the depth of the dance when I decided to jump in. The learning curve is deep, but thankful for my 20 years of advanced cranial work made it easy for me to feel subtle movements from the lead.

I came from Blues Fusion dance. Alas once I tasted the level of presence in Tango, there really was no turning back. For me, Tango is like the Holy Grail of the feminine and male energy coming together in the embrace. As a dancer, one gets to touch and drink in the nectar of what that means to embody and moving as one

Jean-Pierre is my main teacher. I have been extremely picky on who I study with. My focus in Tango is how it can transform my being. I don’t want to have to “un-train” bad technique out. Even when I go to other classes my intuition is so high that I bring my questions back to Jean-Pierre on what has been taught elsewhere. When I feel something has been taught not correctly or didn’t feel right ergonomically to me, Jean-Pierre brakes down how to understand things easier or corrects techniques. I am so grateful for that.

The depth of Jean-Pierre knowledge is profound especially on the history. And his knowledge on where every move came from, why it was developed and why we do certain moves.  Let alone the depth of what he knows of this dance as a gateway into your own spiritual development. Oshala and Irina have been very supportive. I am just in my year anniversary of Tango & do see this as a life long practice. And another doorway into deepening my connection with the great mysteries of life. Thank you so much Jean-Pierre as a great teacher is so essential in a dance this complex."

The other remakable quality Elizabeth shows is her ability to deal with details. She has the mind of a great learner. We know, she will enjoy Tango for a long time.

Bravo Elizabeth!!! Have fun!!!
