WINSLOW HOLMES I clearly remember when Winslow came to our class for the first time. His dedication, persistence and determination has been displayed with regularity. He has been implementing more and more the dispensed information. It is a pleasure to celebrate his progress and have him as one of the Students of the Month, of the Magdalena Technique ®. Let's hear from Winslow himself, about his experience, at this point of his journey : " Well, what an honor!. I came to the Magdalena technical 18 months ago by way of confusion and frustration. You see, I had previously been taking private tango lessons and enjoying them very much. Indeed, I still greatly respect and stay in touch with my former teacher. However, I quickly discovered that improvising became a challenge for me because the foundation of my dancing was predicated on the eight-step count and memorizing figures. I recall going to my first milonga, an open air event in Union Square, dancing to a live band. To my consternation I discovered that my tango consisted of a series of straight walks and left turns; that I couldn't dance on a crowded floor; that my partner, a stranger to me, didn't know the figures I was leading; that more experienced dancers were dancing in a series of circles; I observed leads not dancing as much as they were walking - and yet, somehow, the followers danced beautifully. Time for a change. To what I had no clue. Someone turned me onto a series of essays from Jean-Pierre. It was uncanny to me how each essay addressed my experience. I decided to attend JP's Sunday classes in Berkeley where I was reborn, learning how to walk (again) under his tutelage. Thank you JP for sharing the foundational tools to tango. You have, with great patience, put me on the path of a journey di tango. Winslow" Winslow is having more and more compliments when he goes to the milongas! No doubt he is becoming a Dancer that ladies are eager to dance with. That is a GOOD sign! BRAVO Winslow!!!
Keep it going!
