LEONARD LEVY (LENNY)
We are always pleased to see a student morph to turn into a Tango dancer. We know the dedication that it takes. That's why we celebrate the breakthroughs of our students.
Lenny deserves that celebration! Yes... indeed!
Let's hear from his own words:
"I came to Tango as a swing and salsa dancer after a wonderful follower told me" If you really want to understand leading and following you have to take Tango." So I signed up for classes the very next week. However after taking lessons for 3+ years with different teachers and "supposedly" learning move after move in pattern driven classes I could never execute them correctly and never felt like I was really dancing . Eventually I realized I didn't really know how to "walk".
Everyone agreed it was the most important thing in Tango, but again, despite numerous teachers who would correct details of my posture and movement none of it "took". Then a friend directed me to Magdalena Tango. My very first class was an hour lesson on "how to walk "- broken down in precise detail. The very next week at a practica a woman said to me - "Wow you've improved!"
John Pierre teaches "how" to dance, not "what" to dance, and that difference is everything! Moreover, his background as an African musician provides a profoundly deeper perspective on the music than I've seen elsewhere. I've been with Magdalena Tango for a year now and though I still have a long way to go and still make many mistakes, I also continue to hear "Wow, you've improved" on a regular basis.
BRAVO Lenny!!
