With over 20 years of experience performing and teaching West African dance and drumming, I offer competent, accessible lessons and performances that allow individuals to embrace the culture of Senegal, West Africa. Each region in Senegal offers a new genre and story to facilitate the dance. Gesture, color, costumes, props and various characters quickly bring the audience into the life of Senegal. The use of drums easily reminds the listener of an orchestra. The various tones and sizes of the drums offer a wide range of characterization in all performances. The “Talking Drum” is the most profound.
