T HE MAGDALENA TECHNIQUE ® is launching in the SONOMA AREA, ongoing series of Men's Workshops, to help the LEADING PARTNERS in Tango, polish and improve their skill.

We will set up sessions as an intensive 2 hours learning time. We are creating 3 Study Subjects, to help focus efficiently on the 3 major areas where the LEADING PARTNERS are having difficulties.

Prerequisite: INTERMEDIATE DANCER and up, or must have been learning Tango for 1 year. MUST KNOW YOUR MOLINETE!

Derogation regarding the 1 year study of Tango, is possible, but you must contact us first, to get evaluated, before your can be admitted.

The 3 Study Subject are:

1- CONNECTION AND LEADING
2- IMPROVISING AND CREATING YOUR OWN FIGURES AND STEPS
3- THE MUSICALITY (THE HABAÑERA). Do you hear it ?

CONNECTION AND LEADING

We will help you refine the way you connect to your partner on the dance floor. How do you ACTUALLY connect? What is the Connection?

IMPROVISING AND CREATING YOUR OWN FIGURES AND STEPS

At Tango Magdalena and subsequently in THE MAGDALENA TECHNIQUE ® we have always reminded people that Tango IS AN IMPROVISATIONAL experience, dance. Therefore, learning a bunch of steps put together by someone else ( regardless of their name or skill), is a futile exercise that robs the learner from their ability to actually improvise and dance Tango.

THE MUSICALITY (THE HABAÑERA )

It is an impossible task for anyone to teach Musicality in Tango, if they are not trained musicians. Why do we call a song over here that seems to have a 2/4 or 4/4 beats, “Slow Song” and another song over there with the same speed and characteristics, “Tango” ? The answer is the HABAÑERA. If you don't hear it in Tango, then you are not dancing Tango. We will help you understand it and be more familiar with it. Our musician background comes handy for the task.

At this point of your journey, after spending time and money to learn the figures and steps, if you now realize that your dancing is hitting  a wall, that you feel stiff, that you are pushing and pulling the GRACIOUS CREATURE in your arm who gives you the freedom to improvise and have her dance, if you are using your arms to muscle her around, if you feel uneasiness with your musicality...

Then, these Workshops are here to help you!

Select the Workshop (s) you are interested in and sign up!

Every time we reach 6 or more new participants, in any of the three subjects, we will schedule a session in SONOMA. These sessions will be held generally held on a given SUNDAY, between 2 and 6 PM (tailored to not create a conflict with Sharon's activities in Santa Rosa).

Once we reach 6 or more participants, we will then send you the form to pre-pay, along with the final date, time and address. All sessions will be pre-paid.

The fees to participate to the 2 hour session will be $45 per person. LADIES OR FOLLOWING PARTNERS ACCOMPANYING THEIR PARTNERS WILL BE ADMITTED FREE OF CHARGE. It is understood that we will be focusing on the Men or Leading Partners. Each Workshop will be a 2 hour Workshop. The sessions WILL BE GENDER-BALANCED.

Please, let us know in advance if you don't have a partner, so that we can help find a partner for everyone. It is imperative that we be gender-balanced.
